Customers
A Customer in Tabs is the business you’re billing. Every contract, invoice, and payment in Tabs belongs to a customer record. Customers sit at the top of the Tabs data model — one customer can have many contracts, and each contract can generate many invoices over time.
Role in Tabs
Customers are the anchor point for your revenue operations. When Tabs ingests a contract, it links extracted billing terms, renewal dates, and payment obligations to the correct customer record. That gives finance teams a centralized view of what each account owes, when renewals are coming up, and how billing is configured.
Customers also connect Tabs to your other systems:
- CRM (HubSpot, Salesforce) — companies/accounts (or other specified objects) sync into Tabs as customers before contracts are linked
- ERP — customer records sync bi-directionally for invoicing and reconciliation
- Payments (Stripe) — stored payment methods and portal payments attach to each customer for invoice collection and autocharge
- Tax providers — customer-level tax configuration flows through to invoice generation
