# Balance accounts and payouts

When a customer pays you through Tabs Pay, the money lands in your balance account—the account inside Tabs Pay that holds your funds—and Tabs pays it out to your bank on a daily schedule. This page explains that cycle, so you know what to expect on any given day.

You have one balance account and everything you need to see about it lives in Tabs.

## The payout cycle

Four things happen between a customer paying and the money reaching your bank.

1. **A customer pays.** The payment is captured and the funds land in your balance account.
2. **The sales day closes.** A sales day runs midnight to midnight in your own time zone.
3. **Two business days pass.** Payments settle on a two-day cycle, so a payment captured on Monday reaches your bank in Wednesday's payout.
4. **The payout arrives.** It appears on your bank statement and you can see the matching payout in Tabs.

## Your payout bank account

Your payout bank account is collected during Tabs Pay setup, and it's also the account Tabs debits if your balance goes negative due to refunds or chargebacks in excess of customer payments for a given sales day. Update your bank account from the same **Integrations > Tabs Pay > Business verification** section by clicking "Update account". Select the new payout account from the "Payout Management" section of the same Tabs Pay setup page.
